A Study on the Job Satisfaction and Duties of Mcdical Record Technician

Abstract
To research the duty satisfaction rate in proportion to working condition for medical record technicians, it was surveyed by the job satisfaction according to the educational level, age, service career, license holding or not. The main duty satisfaction factors are classified into the duty quantity, pay, promotion opportunity, job pride and human relation. It was aimed to present basic data for the efficient medical record duty¡¯s conduct and development by analyzing the job satisfaction and description of medical record technician¡¯s duty. The questionaire survey was carried out on 90 medical record room¡¯s workers who work in 7 general hospitals in Taegu, 4 local hospitals in Pohang and Kumi from May 17 to 30 1987. The medical record room¡¯s workers of the selected hospitals were 131 member, per hospital were 12 member and license holder were 36 member that occupied only 27.5 % of all the member. The satisfaction rate of medical record room¡¯s worker for the human relation was the highest level (52.2 %), Job pride (23.2 %) and duty quantity (2.2 %) was lowest level among the main job satisfaction factors. The unsatisfied rate of them for promotion opportunity was the highest level (88.9 %), Pay(60.0 %) and duty quantity was the lowest level (32.2 %) in working conditions. To conclude medical record room is needed more workers in proportion to duty quantity in hospital with organized system as an independent post. The great number of practical workers seem to be satisfying their job pride and human relation while the duty quantity, pay, promotion opportunity. They also recognized the necessity of their license holding for their qualification factor with professional knowledge. Therefore, it is supposed to suggest as follows ;- 1) The reasonable organization of the system. 2) The medical record technician¡¯s increase. 3) The improvement of working environment. 4) The improvement of personnel management. 5) The execution of professional re-education. 6) The extention of medical record room¡¯s duty extent and generalization of duties.
